I'm not a wedding photographer, but I've done a few and I think you did a very nice job with these. I like the way you composed the group shot, and the last one. What a happy bride!

Ah, and now there's a 2nd group. LOL. These look great too. Not too crazy about the zoom-like vignette, but then, I really don't like that kind of stuff so take that with a grain of salt. LOL
The one looking out the window and that one under it look fabulous! |

I think you did a great job, stunning for a first effort. I'll point out a few nits (it's what I do) in the interest of growth and development:
All of the images are very well composed, lit, exposed, etc; your technical skills are very good. Quite a few of your images are not quite straight, some rather noticably. #1 is very nicely done, but her hand is a distraction; it would've been better if you couldn've found some other way to hold the curtain back. In the last image of the first string, you might want to clone out some of the flaws in the paint on the raling she's leaning on. At first, I though WB was off, but I think it's really a pinkish cast from the walls. Skin tones don't look bad, but could be made better by sliding just a hair towards the green side. A matter of style, I suppose, but I'm not digging the processing. I like the use of center-spot filters and effects, but these seem heavy handed. When you use an effect like center-spot, the idea is to draw the eye to the primary subject. In the second to last shot, the old car is an important element of the image but your eye is not drawn to it or even the couple but the strong lines of the radial zoom. I think the last image is another example of where it doesn't add to the image but only detracts. Because of the plain-ness of the walls behind them, the effect is only really apparent through half of a picture hanging on the wall and the lady's outside elbows and that's where my eye ends up going. I think it is a well-placed effect for your second image, but in my view, it's just too heavy once again. Effects are like spices in cooking; best used sparingly. All offered in a cordial spirit. And when you get down to it, nearly all of my comments are about processing and that's because you did an excellent job in creating beautiful images in the first place. |

For a first time shooter, I think you've done a great job. Better job than my first gig as a matter of fact.
We've only got 3 problematic images IMHO. First image seems to have a magenta cast. I'd correct that and bright it up. Bride in the lobby: In the '70s, it was common to see the "twist the dress" pose. But it's outdated these days. The dress "always follows the bride". Couple in front of the car: Way to much artwork. Dump the zoom frame. __________________
