If you remember, I went to my sisters wedding in Florida early June, and asked opinions about shooting some candids there. As it turned out, very casual wedding and reception with many cameras. The pro photog was very tolerant to other shooters, but I limited my shooting and stayed clear of him and his shots.
When my sister sent me a link to the photogs online album, I was disappointed to say the least. I think his shots failed to catch any real emotion and exposure was a real issue. All detail on dresses was lost, color was way off, and all light colored clothing bleed together. I wish now I had made more of an effort. Maybe I'm just missing something here, but in my opinion, many of the p&s'ers captured better images. If any of you have a litle spare time, please give me your opinion of the photogs work here. http://sarasotaphoto.lifepics.com/net/Pro/EventInfo.aspx?event=jenanddave . normally I wouldn't comment on such a topic, but I'm with you on this one. If I paid someone good money to shoot my weeding and this is what I got out of it, I'd be more than just a little pissed off. My 10 year old grandson could have taken those snapshots. She should get her money back. Seriously!!!!!!!

Well, you get what you pay for. The simple fact that his website says "Affordable Wedding Photography" should have been a hint.
They look like they were taken with a $200 PnS. I also do not like commenting like that, but these are really bad. I could have handed my kid a camera and gotten the same results if he PP'd them himself. Simply bad. ![]() |

At first, i didn't want to post a link, but the more I looked, the more disappointed I was.
Believe it or not, they were shot with a 5D. I guess having a hammer doesn't make you a carpenter...... |

I like everyone else don't like commenting on such things, but I had to stop watching after 50 pics. I pretty sure that I have seen better quality from a one time use camera.
It almost seems like he was intentionally trying to over expose all the pics. When I saw the groom walking down the aisle and could differentiate between him and pillar, my skin crawled. Sorry on the bad luck. |

I did send her the shots I got, though it was not my intention to capture the entire wedding.
I don't have the heart to tell her how horrible the pros work is, and at this point, what good would come from it ? I guess she'll see what she wants to see in those photos. |

I looked over his website. His montra seems to be lower priced fare.
Like SureFire said....you get what you pay for. I wouldn't give my opinion to the bride, though. She may be perfectly happy with what he's done. |

I wont look, because I really know I shouldn't and dont want to make a comment on them.
The only thing I will say is that if you were a little bit more aggressive in your shooting, you could have given the bride a bit more pics so she would have something to show and live with. In your words, the Pro Photographer was very patient and tolerant of the others so why did you stay away?? I know its a bit late for that now, but remember this for the future. You could always go back, ask the Bride and Groom to dress up and shoot some Portraits for them as an added Wedding Present. At least this way, they can have something for the years to come. |

Rockbottom, I don't normally post to threads like this. As a matter of fact I believe this is the first time I have posted to photocamel at all. I have been a photographer for many years and shooting weddings for the last six, during which I have shot approximately 200.
These are horrible and the shame is your sister has to live with these pictures. Yes there are some salvageable pictures in the collection. However, many of the formal and ceremony pictures are blown out and there is absolutely no detail in the dress. In many pictures the blowout is so bad you cannot tell where the dress ends and the sky, the groom's shirt, or other dresses start. I hope the maid of honor's dress is close to the right color in some pictures, because from viewing these I cannot tell the color of the dress. I don't know what your sister paid for this photographer, but whatever it was, it was too much. __________________
