Easy as pie to shoot.
Flash behind subjects, (on auto no less), camera on manual. __________________

Thanks for sharing 2nd is my fave
Marc I would be interested in seeing some of your hand held wedding pics with some details [if possible] as I have let myself down on this more often than I care for at weddings . I know the tripods are a great but not always very practical in all circumstances. Thank you DC2 |

dc2, you mean without any flashes? If it's a dark church it's almost impossible to do handheld at all - even with fast lenses. You need some type of support.
I took this without a flash - but had to rest the camera on one of the pews to get some support (at ISO 800). ![]() And this one I took without a flash, but on a tripod. ![]() The church is very bright in the summer... less bright in the winter... a summer shot from the same church. Then no tripod or flash... ![]() ![]() |

You mean flash on camera and not placed on the side using a trigger, or on a flash cord with a bracket?
This is one of those "flash on the camera", handheld photo's taken at the same time as the others: ![]() PS, note that I'm not skilled at this at all... just trying to figure out what you're asking for. ![]() |

OK in a previous post by Marc he said I could improve my shots overnight if I used a slower shutter speed
So what I am asking is can this be done hand held with the slower speed and flash because I find this hard to get right ![]() BTW nice shot |

Ah, Mark is talking about dragging the shutter - i.e. let more of the ambient light hit the camera and less flash light. I guess it all depends on how the enviroment is, since you might have some motion blur if the shutter speed is too long. With some images I think it'll add to the effect, but on some I think you might need a tripod or a monopod (or some type of support).
