I've done countless weddings with my D1X. I'm mostly a studio photographer,a nd it's great for studio work. If I upgrade to the D2x, will it present any problems? File storage isliekly to bean issue. Anything else? Thanks.

alice, i graduated to the d2x from the d1x just about 6 months ago and haven't regretted the decision at all. file size and storage will become a big issue so look into bigger flash cards and portable hard drives for sure. as far as images color, quality, noise, etc. this camera has the d1x beat hands down and will make you wonder how you ever lived without it. if you haven't shot this camera before you're going to love it, but again it makes for some rather cumbersome files, so be prepared. also, you may want to upgrade to a 64 bit processor cpu if you don't already own one especially for handling these large files in photoshop.

i usually shoot in jpeg fine - only in raw or tiff if it's something i really want the greatest amount of control over. 12 megapixels isn't as much as you may think it is either - it's double what the d1x was, but it's by no means overkill - which, as i stated before will have you wondering how you ever survived without it...

Since I had only just got the D2X I was worried about file sizes and storage so shot the wedding two days into the camera in low resolution mode, JPEG fine. I know this raises the point as to why bother to buy it in the first place but the ease of use, the snap of the shutter, the overall quality is light years ahead of the previous D70. To answer your question the prints came out fine up to A3+ and the couple were delighted. I have since experimented with RAW and yes, file storage is a problem, so a stack of cards or a portable hard disc will be a must. I am reading my way through Thom Hogan's 750 page tome and possibly will just get to master the camera and all its facilites just as it becomes obsolete! 12mp yes, but only for the ones you think they might want to blow up big where quality will be an issue. Nearly all of my prints I find from experience to be 7x5 anyway for the album.

I dont think you will have any problems with the D2X at weddings.
I have shot a number with it now and I can not think of any problems, except sun glare on the display screen. In the event of this, I use the historgram. In terms of file size, my colleagues and myself shoot in compressed NEF format, and this cuts down any problem. The only thing is that you tend to get even more critical, and I am now upgrading my key lenses for even sharper ones (17-28mm f2.8 and 28-70mm f2.8 Nikkor). Regards Bruce Foster __________________
