Default Wedding Album

Yet another attempt at a wedding album. I have posted a couple of pics here, two of my favorites, but the link will take you to the whole enchilada. Rachel and Rob

The lab I have been using for two years, Full Color, has just announced their press printed products. Their prices seem very reasonable. This is a 60 page album and I uploaded it yesterday. It will be a hardcover with a photo design on the front and the back. 8.5 x 11. I think $65.00 for a hardcover with photo on the cover 60 page album for $65.00 is a great price. I will have to wait and see on the quality. If it is good, I'll never go back to Blurb. I am also ordering one from Asuka from another wedding so I can compare the quality. I also want my brides to see the difference between the two companies.

WOW!!! Kelly, this is a beautiful album. I love the example shots you have posted here. The bouquet shot is lovely. I also like the music that you've chosen. I found myself watching it with a little smile on my face, thinking..... I wanna get married again

Thanks for posting this. It was not only beautiful but very informative. Saturday, I shot my third ever wedding (1967, 1995 and 2008 - what I consider too closely spaced) but it was a very different affair being what I'd call traditional by 1967 standards. Most of the requested shots included assorted groups of family members. The reception was in the church's tiny rec hall but totally dry (something photographers should give a discount for). I had it easy since they were happy to have any photos. The entire budget for the event came in under the photo costs for many weddings. Some things translate. I still have no idea how to handle the concept of a fair bride in white standing next to a tanned sailor in black in a room with terrible light including spots of direct sunlight on the wall behind the altar at the time of the ceremony. Churches should be forbidden to have incandescent, fluorescent and outside windows in a room with a 40 foot wood ceiling. Next time I wish they would consider installing a set of ceiling mount strobes when they build the place. I found several lighting situations in your group that reminded me of my day. I most envy that you bride had beige flowers (mine were whiter than the very white dress).

You have my deepest respect. My couple got what they paid for (friends and free) and undoubtedly will enjoy my pictures as much as yet another toaster I would have given them had I not shot the event. I'll be ready to take another wedding in roughly 2048.

Thanks all, for taking a peek. I'm glad you liked the album.

The lighting in the church was wretched. The front altar was brilliantly lit while the sanctuary was dark. FRUSTRATING. Shooting outdoors was the wrong time of day...but we made the best of it as we went along. I still do not know how to handle mixed lighting too well. I am learning.

The bride's ready room was very dark as well. Trying to get natural light shots meant dealing with a lot of motion blur.

Thanks again. I keep learning and hoping to get better.

Nice job Kelly! I like the layout. Please let us know about the quality of the book. I am offering and showing Blurb albums right now. I tell customers that I can get other albums, more expensive, but I feel like these are an economical option. I can definately get them half the album for double the price from Kiss or Asuka. I do not like the dust jackets from Blurb! I wish they could print directly on the cover. Talk at ya later....Chris

Chris, I will keep you posted. It was the absence of that derned dust cover that made me get excited about this prospect. I do not like Blurb's covers. I have used Full Color exclusively for about two years now and am thrilled with their products as well as their customer service. I am so hoping that these books exceed Blurb. I know they won't be an Asuka, but I need ot offer something that isn't Asuka price.

Anticipation is a sweet feeling. I am pacing my classroom and watching the clock knowing that my wedding album is being delivered to my house today. I can't wait! I am so excited. I have been thinking about it all week. I have books from U-Build-A-Book, Pictage (Willowbook), Cornerstone, and Blurb. I will give a comparison of each. My Asuka book will arrive in about five weeks.

Wow, Kelly, that is a beautiful album! I had to look for your work, after you posted to my Details thread Very elegant work.

I like your ability to "pose" the couple and groups. I find that very hard and struggle for poses. Hopefully as I get more experience, they will come naturally, but I really find that a challenge.

You have two cute boys there
