dude, im kind of diggin some of your shots and some dont quite hit the mark. focus seemed to be an issue in a coulpe. the one i liked the best was like the 3rd, the one with the older fellow and the bride, very dramatic lighting but it dosent quite say "happiest day of my life" to me. the other ones of the guys face (same dude) was cool too, but his expression was kind fo somber. what dident they serve drinks at this wedding. overall i think they are ok, maybe a lit more light in some and change the mood in others. weddings can be tough but it looks like you will get the habg of it.
(for the record, i dont shoot weddings or bar/batmizfas [sic], these are just my first thoughts on the pics) |

These shots have a very nastolgic feel to them...but they seem just a bit soft. Feels very sixties.

I agree about the nostalgia feel to the shots, #2 & #5 in particular seem a little soft to me, the others look good to me on the focus front, with no exif available on the images it’s hard to tell whether shutter speed or changing from AF to MF would have helped that, but I'm guessing it was your AF that let you down.
I really like the style these were shot in. |

Here is the introduction to Planet Neil's flash photography techniques:
"As photographers we’re always looking for perfect light. And yet, the quality of available light isn’t always ideal. It is rarely perfect. But I feel that in using flash wisely, I’m able to enhance or over-ride the available light. With careful use of flash, I am more in control of light, and hence the way my photos will look - than if I had just accepted the existing ambient light. Instead of waiting for perfect light, I use what I have … and add flash to make the best of the situation. These pages were originally written to help other photographers who struggle with on-camera flash. But it was also written as a reaction against the snobbery of the purists who insist on using available light only - even when it looks terrible." planet neil - tangents » flash photography techniques |

some really good shots right there. I really like the ones that are not "weddingish" the best though. Just the portraits kind of. They look awesome
