Default Weddings are hot!

As I see it, my challenge is to capture the emotions of a wedding day, not just people pics.* I want the participants to be able to look back years later and remember how the felt, not just how they looked.*

Getting beautiful is serious business, and there's always a fair degree of anxiety in the prep room.

But the tension is gone as soon as the makeup is on and the dresses are squeezed into.* In fact, things can turn quite raucous.

The flowergirl got an earfull when she snuck into the changing room, though, hopefully, she didn't understand everything that she heard!

Of course, the peak of emotion is at ceremony.* It's a good thing the audience is seated, because the looks that pass between the bride and groom make one's knees weak.

There are few attendees that aren't effected, and, for the rest of the evening, romance seems to be everywhere you look.

Yup, weddings are definitely hot.

Thanks, Mikael!

It appears there isn't much interest in wedding photography on this site.* Even the moderator has stopped posting on this forum -lol.

Guess I'll stop posting, too.

Thaniks, Paul. I wasn't fishing for compliments. I was just commenting on the traffic. The wedding forum has slowed down to a crawl in terms of member participation. Is it the same throughout Camel-Land?

That's why I didn't post anything, Frank. I knew if I did you would think I was responding to your fishing for complements and then you would have to say you weren't fishing and I'd have to say I know, I was just replying and then we'd sit here wondering.

Yes, I've noticed that things have slowed down and a number of people haven't posted in a long time.

Don't stop posting , there are still people like me who are starting in wedding photography and other stlyes and though I never looked at the wedding section before I definitely check it out now for ideas . One of your postings got me asking questions in the lighting forum about soft boxes and stuff like that and has convinced me that I 'need' an SB600 at least . I never used to like using flash but many of your pictures have shown me why it is worth using . Maybe not enough people reply .
On Saturday I will be doing my first official wedding , I have been to the site , taken test shots , tested various backgrounds [ different coloured tarpaulins] for some " bluescreen photography " [ erasing the background and pasting them on different scenery just as a novelty ] , I've been checking out the wedding section and feel much more confident now . One thing you said before ..... take test shots and then check the histograms , could you elaborate on that please ?

After you take a test picture, look at it in the review mode and see how it turned out.* There is a review setting that displays a graph of the distribution of pixels by brightness.* That graph is called a histogram, and it's a very accurate way of determining if your settings were correct.

Well, I'm sorry that this is actually the first time I've actually visited in this particular room because these are a great series of shots.* Your narration is awesome with these photo's too!* I could only hope that a wedding photographer I would choose, could capture as many great emotions.* Wonderful shots!!!

Thanks, Kris and Michele! I'm glad you enjoyed the presentation. Weddings are a lot of work, but I find them the most rewarding thing I can do with my camera.

Wonderful photo's Uncle Frank!!!

And to come to the defence of the moderator, I have the inside information that she's been very busy the last few months with a book translation. Then she had the nerve to go to Canada on vacation and then to hospital. So the rumours says that she'll post on this forum very shortly. In fact, I know she's going to shoot a wedding on december 30th and will probably want our oppinion about the results. She says it's going to be tricky due to the lack of daylight in the area where she lives.

Please tell the moderator that I realize she's not paid very much (bumper stickers?), and that she has a life of her own.* But next time, maybe she chould put a note in her forum before she heads out of town, to keep us from worrying about her .

Mmm, big problem.* I shot under the same same conditions at my last wedding.* Tell her to make sure she has extra sets of batteries for her flash, and to get a lot of practice with it before the event... and good luck!

Thanks Uncle Frank!!! I'll be sure to tell her. She says she's not even sure she's allowed to use a flash during the ceremony, but she has picked up two brand new 580EX flashes plus 2 new sets of batteries for both flashes, so she should be covered that way.

And I agree, she should have said something... but I think she's also starting ot be a bit absent minded. It must be age.

In some ways, this is one of the benefits of PhotoCamel. If these were posted on somewhere like DPR, there would be a flurry of activity and then the thread would be pretty much dead after 24 hours or less. Sometimes it's better to be contemplative over such things. Even in the ever changing Internet world we live in it's nice to slow down once in a while rather than seeking the instant gratification.

I agree with Jared, very nice photos.

I really enjoyed the photos and dialogue on this thread! I don't look at the weddings board enough, it seems. Actually, there are some great ideas/discussions about candids versus posed, lighting, shooting groups, etc... here that compliment the portrait category well. I'll check back again soon! And I look forward to seeing Petra's wedding photos!
