Default First post and first wedding!

This is my first post on this website but looking through it seems like the ideal place to get some constructive criticism. I was lucky enough to be asked to do photos at this wedding, they didn't want anything posed so I gave it a go. They are friend of a friend and on a budget so expectations weren't high. Stressful day, the rain was on and off and everything was running late. Had fun though!

It'd be great to know what you guys think! Here's a link to the album, I apologise if this is too many photos's to look through.

First off...... Welcome to the Camel!

Went through a bunch of them and a lot of very nice candids since that is what they wanted. There was a lot that I saw that would have benefited from the use of some fill flash, bounced or off camera, unless that was the effect you were going for. Some seemed to lose some detail due to lack of lighting.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for that input, really useful. I only had one flash and two cameras so didn't always use the flash. I'm sure experience will help me set up the flash quickly, as I said things were running behind so you feel that you don't want to be holding things up further!

Very good for the first time you shot a wedding. Even with out the use of or limited flash you did very well and captured some very good shots. Some paid wedding photographers fail to capture what you have obtained.

Some churches do not allow flash while taking ceremony photographs so using high ISO to compensate is acceptable and you did a good job of this was the case. If you shot in a RAW format you will be better able to correct the exposure and the darkened areas in post production. Couple of your images have a CB difference but that is to be expected in weddings.

You did a very good job

Not to shabby for a first job! In fact it is very good! OK there are some elements that need a critique but as you gain experience you will also gain "polish" and you work will get better all the time.

What I like is, that unlike many new wedding shooters, you have not made too many detail shots. Some of the make the poor bride into a jigsaw puzzle and there are no full views of he gown and the grooms formal attire- which brides like to see. Nice spot news style coverage, good story telling content and pretty decent composition a framing for a new shooter.

Keep up the good work! You are a great story teller and that's what people want nowadays. If you want a critique on a few things- let me know.

Ed
