Outdoor Wedding

Recently Sarah and I drove to a small suburb of Chicago to shoot a wedding. All was outdoors. This couple was a treat to work with. They kept asking me, "Are we looking sexy enough? If not, let us know...we'll turn up the heat!"

I know these are all out of order. Used natural light on all of them. She really did get dressed outside...it was a real nice moment. Her mother laced her up. The wedding was at high noon....oh boy! And the group photos...well...of course we have to do them at 1:00 in the afternoon...when else would you want to do them? I did coax them out during the evening light for some additional photos. The final group shot was the last one of the bunch.

For the cowboy putting in the cuff link shot....it was a hallway in a three bedroom ranch house. Two opposing doors were opened to let the light in to illuminate the subjects. One of my all time favorites. Maybe not for everyone, but I love it.

Really nice set of images, Kelly! Lots of fun stuff. On #11, I see what you were after but I honestly would have liked to see him kissing her a little higher, kind of the "less is more" philosophy - I think that would have brought more of a feeling of anticipation to the shot. Just my thoughts on it. Also there seems to be quite a bit of red in that image's skin tones...wonder how a black and white conversion would look?

My favorites here are 9 and 15. Well done, Kel!

Thanks Sis! Been a while since I was in the habit of posting, and I am trying to get better. I am ordering a new Color Munki to try and help with the calibration of colors. I know work on three different computers, and trying to keep color consistency is a major issue. I have used the Spyder for years, and it is time to upgrade. Color Munki has a new, more affordable version of their device coming out and from what I can tell, they are one of the best.

Trying to keep it fresh for these younger brides is always the challenge.

Kelly, we haven't seen you post any shots in while. These are nice, and the wedding must have been lovely. I especially love #3 and #8, which has a real "Pre-Raphaelite" feel to it. Nice to see you posting.

Gotta be honest, Kelly, the 1st 2 seem kind of snapshot quality to me, plus cutting off the guy on the left of the image in #2. The rest are excellent and worthy of your normal high praise!

It is the couple and the times! People want fun, youthful, unposed (whatever that means) so you just go with the flow and do what you do and add in some spice!

Kelly ,thanks for sharing your talent and those great photos. I personally come away from these post encouraged to go out and shoot more. Someday when I grow up I want to be just as great as you and Sarah.
