As the topic states.....
In a couple weeks I am shooting a wedding with an extremely large bride and bean pole of a groom. I've read a lot on shooting large people. Weight on the back foot, shoot high, window of light (Mark's trick). I know not to shoot him sideways. LOL he'll disappear. Please, any suggestions on poses and/or tricks I can use with this couple. __________________

Here's a karma point; this sounds like it'll be quite a job.

Aww thanks cyclo. They are a really sweet fun couple. I did some engagement pictures and in processing them it just became more and more apparent that I need to do what I can for their wedding shots. More than I did for the engagement shots. I know I can't make either of them look like fit bodied models, but I want to do my best.

I haven't really done weddings or formal portraiture, but I think that if you capture their "magic" together you'll be well on your way to making wonderful shots that they'll love.* Great subjects usually equal great photos.

This whole job is going to be a challenge. They are paying additional fees to have me remove in PP a large tatoo from the shoulder of the maid of honor......................................
I'll make it work. Their magic will be there, I just have to capture it, like you say. |

Never done anything like that either but it sounds like a real challenge for sure. Maybe take some nice head shots and make the viewer focus on their eye contact with each other rather than their physical appearance. If they are OK with it maybe a jokey shot of her holding him in her arms?
Dunno, but hope it goes well for you. Cheers Alex |

LOL Alex. I was thinking of having the bridesmaids hold him up horizontal. Maybe she could just throw him over her shoulder and I could get a shot of them walking out of the church. LOL
dc2 that is an excellent suggestion. I've not been to the church yet to see what I'm dealing with, but will be going the week before the wedding to survey it. I definitely want to avoid the hide her behind stuff shots because those look like well..... hiding her behind stuff shots. |

I just had an idea regarding loose headshots: try using razor thin depth-of-field, making sure that just the face is in focus, with everything else gone. Might be an idea to hide less-than-flattering bodies. You could maybe have their two heads together at the same plane of focus, and then lose everything else to thin DOF.
