Default Camera Body Failure

Have you ever had a camera body fail during a wedding? If so, tell the story; when did you realize it, what was happening, and how did you recover?

During the 2nd wedding I did, my camera body failed. I realized it when the grandmothers were being escorted into the sanctuary at the start of the ceremony. What was happening was an expired battery. I recovered nicely in intensive care cardiac unit after the major heart attack that occurred

Seriously, I haven't had that happen at a wedding (camera body fail). But I have a backup so I didn't give it a whole lot of thought. But the battery story is true, except for the intensive care part LOL

Ha Ha Sis. I still get surprised every time I forget about the battery. A full card gets me every now and then too.

I have never had a camera fail (knock knock) but if I did I would just grab the backup. I have two rigs with two backups so I should be okay.

You guys are hilarious. If I was making an instructional video about this topic I would send a video interview team by to take clips.

Charlie, so you have two bodies on you while you work and keep the backups somewhere close by?

Do you have a literal checklist for getting prepared the night before? Then you could throw batteries and memory card stuff on it.

I have two bodies on me, one with short lens and one with long. Then in the back pew of the church (or some other corner) is my main bag with extra batteries, both backup bodies, flashes, cards and all the other fixins. I usually have 1 or 2 CF cards in my pocket too.

I use an iPhone app called Second Shooter for a checklist, among many other features.

I've got seven bodies with replicated lenses. Call it overkill, but I'm never stuck out.

Oh, I've had failures many times. But I reach into my bag and pull out a camera set up the same way, and I'm back in business.

Ummmm...I shot about 20 shots before I realized I didn't have a card in the camera. During the after ceremony pictures. Not good. I was practicing some things at home and but the camera on "shoot without card" and I did..at home...forgot to switch it back.

I calmly put a card in and went on. What could I do? The wedding party was splitting up and the BNG were ready for their alone shots. Lesson learned.
