I charged all my batterys the night before, did my test shots. All was good. The next morning I load up for the Daytona 500. I take the Canon XS out, turn it on and get a black screen. Nothing worked. Changed batterys. Still nothing. Called Cannon, they said send it back to them. I wont say what they said when I asked for a loaner. Now I have two Cannons, T1I and a new XS for a backup. Both work great. Wont leave home without a BACKUP.

There may not be anyone here, but I personally know 3 people. Two had the mirrors fall off in their Canon cameras while in the middle of the wedding, one had some kind of electrical error that basically killed his camera.
Thank goodness they *all* had backup cameras. Weddings are one of the few places you cannot say "hey Mr Client? My camera is done, let's reschedule for tomorrow, ok?" ![]() My personal opinion here is... if you don't have equipment redundancy, you really should not be doing weddings... and that means MORE than just the camera, it means pretty much a backup for every critical piece of equipment like lenses, flashes, lightstands, whatever is critical to your style of shooting. |

Hassleblad locked up once. Could not remove the lens or the A12 back. The shop had to unlock it because the leaf shutter in the lens failed.
Got out of the car ready to begin a wedding and one of my D70s cameras gave me an error message and would not work. It was a bad CF card purchased at eBay under the SanDisc label. Luckily, I figured it out in about fifteen minutes and I had spare cards and an extra D70s body with me as always. Once, at my backdrop setup, I got tangled in the pc cord and my F3 hit the tile floor below my feet. It damaged the prism buit it was fine for another two years before I replaced that prism. I had a spare F3, so no worries, just more expenses. Always carry backups. Once, I was shooting the groomsmen at the alter before the ceremony and one of my Vivitar 285 flash units blew the capacitor. I pulled a spare out of my bag and I continued on. I had an additional spare 285 unit in the trunk as well. I don't want to be shooting an entire wedding on my backup flash so I always carry three flash units. __________________
