Nicely done.

I had to learn the path tool a couple weeks ago in order to recreate a vector graphic for a logo where no original file existed just a bad jpeg. On some images you can use additional techniques where you select by color range and then convert the selection into a working path. Saves some time and it only needs to be refined with the method you explained.

Thanks Felix. It's amazing the variety of ways to accomplish the same thing in Photoshop, isn't it?
