Not sure if I asked this before (can't find it if so) but I am looking for a B&W action for Photoshop CS2. Will pay $ for a good quality action.
Please let me know what you would use. Thank you! __________________

I'd read this thread and go from there....
B&W Conversion Methods A lot of actions don't really help because to make them work right for a wide range of images, it has to stop and allow manual interpretations and then restarted. In the thread above, most B&W conversions are pretty simple as far as steps, so an action is really needed....? |

I use Cybia - Plug-In Filters - BW-Plus - it's a free plug-in that works really well. It gives you options that are similar to using colored filters with B&W film. After converting, I sometimes still tweak the contrast, curves, etc. to suit the needs of the picture.

I agree with Mr. P. If you have CS2 you're way better off just learning to do them yourself. They're quick and easy and each photo will need a little something different.

I agree with Mr. P. and Lee, I've been playing with SilverEfex Pro recently and it is certainly a very capable plug-in however I find I can achieve much the same results just as quickly using LR and if I want grain I use PS.

lol. I almost always agree with you I just don't always mention it out loud and in public.
![]() All you have to do is run a B&W action on two or three shots that are exposed differently to see that it isn't the best way to go. ![]() |

Agree with mr. P. here. Making a good B/W is a craft. There is no one size fits all.

The BW controls and presets in CS3 are awesome IMO! Add a nice high pass filter at about 15 px on top really helps add some Pop to it
Best, Jay |
