Default Make an image cross the matte border...in PS CS

Ok...here is what I do...

1. select an image you want to use...do all of your retouching and effects...

2. go up under file and make a new image...choose the size etc that you want...

3. crop the image you want into the size you want and drag a copy into the new image

4.create a new layer...and fill with black

5. go back to the originally cropped layer and using the marque tool select the area that you want inside of the box (not crossing the border)

6.copy and paste into the new image on top of the black layer

7. reduce the opacity of the black layer and line up the crop you made in step 5 with the oringinal one you dragged into the new image

8. Under layers...create a reveal all layer mask on your black layer...select a proper size brush and careful brush back the part you want to show over the black border...I choose a brush with soft edges...I do this rather quickly because you can always go back with a black brush and tweak it....you might want to enlarge it quite a bit

9.I then put the black layer at 100% opacity and check out my job...I then tweak as needed...

10. Select the cropped layer and create a stroke line using a color selector and obtaining a color found in the print...not too light not too dark

11. Create a reveal mask and cover over where the image crosses over the border

12. Flatten and save.

In this example I had more crossing the border than I would normally but, I wanted to use an image that I readily had available oin my harddrive.
There may be an easier way but, this is how I do it. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Blessings,
Lori
