I did something similiar to this about 25 years ago, and it worked quite well. I used an old 285 Vivitar as the flash source.
If you are ingenious enough to do this project you could also come up with a modeling light (I would use a flourescent bulb) and use a DC powered flash. For the umbrella click on Hexadecabox. Collection: DIY Photography Stuff. Benji __________________
