Very nice tutorial......

Not that it really matters, but the image that you call "not really high key" - the lady with her foot on the chair - is properly called hot white. This term resulted in the 1960's and 1970's with the popularity of white seamless background paper and a term was needed to differentiate "high key" from a normal key image with a white background.

great post and made even better by the questions that were brought up. I've learned in 10mins what I've been searching the net for a long time.

Thanks

ps.: Tony thanks for noting the proper term for the Hot white image.

Really?

Good tip!

About six feet out from the back wall and I usually pose the subject smack in the center of the background so I have maximum room on both sides for fudging.

muy excellente "key imaging" for dummies. nothing but the best from the best.

on wedding shoots, taking a shot of the couple when they are "pelted" with rice when they are under the archway heading out the church can almost pass for a high key image (at least for me)... does that qualify for one?
