This quick tip shows you how to strip the metadata from your images. There is alot of personal information that your clients or web viewers don't need to see, like your where abouts on a particular day and time. There is minimal information that your clients needs to see; like the copyright and usage information as well as your contact info.
So without out further ado lets start stripping... >>>PLAY<<< __________________

I wish there was an easier way to totally strip EXIF info in photoshop.
The problem with the method you describe is that Photoshop still embeds the mostly empty EXIF tags, which can add as much as 20k to your image size. When I'm dealing with images for the web, 20k is a lot of wasted bandwidth in my opinion. I prefer to use Irfanview to save my final jpg file which totally removes the exif data and gives me a smaller file. |

Yes, but it would help if you made an action that strips the data, and point an image processor script to it, like Dr. Browns 1-2-3 Process. I haven't tried, since I don't care whats in the files since I don't give them to the customer.

I would not advise stripping metadata from your images, *particularly* web-bound images. The upcoming and likely-to-be-passed revisions to the orphaned works rules for copyright and usage are pretty scary.
I have begun to *ADD* more metadata to my images that are bound for web distribution. Paranoid? Perhaps - but the proposed new revisions put more weight on the part of the owner/author to make efforts to protect their materials. More information = more protection/ownership effort. |

I am fine with ownership information- like sighning your own art work - but it is the camera infor, settings etc.. that tell what you did to get the print - is what is the problem - I like to know - but I don't want my clients to know. so more than anything I do not want the exif and software programs to show up on the files to the client.
