And the flood from PONT continues.... Benji you are the one responsible for so many joining the Camel. Just had to say thanks from "down under" and ask if any of the rules change here because the water drains the other way?

Benji, thank you so much for pointing me towards this great community and this awesome thread in particular.

Your willingness to share your wealth of information is touching, it seems there are still some good people out there I've seen (and bought) books that were far less informative. Thank you!!!

I have a young friend who wants to learn photography and this will help her to understand what I've told her about some of the rules that help to make a good photograph and how to pose someone.
Thank you for taking the time to do this

Not only does the water swirl in the opposite direction, but it is spring there is it not?

Thanx Benji, this is really magnanimous of you to so willingly share all these tips and rules not to mention the PDF. I have definitely got some homework to do and just reading through these posts, I have been able to see where I have gone wrong in the past and why my "people" photos suck. Unfortunately I don't have a studio or any extra lighting but just correcting the poses will make already make a huge difference. Many thanx once again - great work

Default Thanks for this excellent tutorial

Benji,
Thanks for this tutorial. I'm new to photography and new to this forum. I have been reading other forums to learn while I made my mind up on what to buy. I came across Photocamel while googling for tutorials, this site is God sent, excellent site and this forum in particular, thanks to your tutorials and everyone else who puts in their little grain of knowledge.

I intend to try to replicate as much as I can, need to get flashes and lights for that first.

Thanks again,
George Adams

I have family who rave over my photos with those "I'd never have thought to do that" comments. My secret? I have read this thread so many times, I have it almost memorized.

Thanks Benji!

I have to voice my thanks for such a superb guide. Having come from DPreview with the countless useless posts about Canon v Nikon etc its great to find this goldmine of great advice. I've learnt more from this one post then from months of reading DP.
Thank you for putting so much work into it.

Thanks to Benji for the great guide! And thanks to FocusingOnFlorida for creating the PDF - It's printed out and I will be referring to it frequently. I just started playing with the Canon 50mm 1.8, but am intrigued by the points you make about using telephoto lenses.

I also like the comment about finding a mannequin or other inanimate model to experiment with
