I'll echo what's been said here already ... on several fronts. Ebay does take a good piece of the final price. That said, it's a huge audience and if you have a good item it can sometimes sell for a surprising price. One example is a 55-200 VR lens I bought as a refurb for $125. Two years later I sold it on eBay for over $250 - a NEW lens was less than that at the time.

When I'm selling photography gear, I feel it's hugely important to take really nice shots of the gear. I always feel a lot better buying photo gear from someone who knows how to take a good photo. Spend the time to get the lighting right, shoot on a clean background. Post sharp, high-resolution photos and be sure to show any flaws on the item. Do NOT use stock photos.

NO RESERVE! If you have a minimum selling price, set that as your opening bid. A reserve is an auction killer.

As mentioned already, if it's a hot item, price it LOW. You know it will sell - a $9.99 price on a $500 lens will generate a lot of interest and you'll get more eyes on the listing. A lot of snipers on a listing can make the final thirty seconds real exciting.
