Un-rebuilt "Battle of Britain" Class light Pacific "Manston" makes light work of a 5 coach train on the Swanage railway en route to Corfe Castle.

It's that time of year again ! The Railhead Treatment Trains are busy again blasting the leaves off the rails with high pressure water then spraying Sandite to improve grip.
This daily train comes as far as my local station, then reverses and crosses over to the other track and heads back whence it came !

Film shot of locomotive in a park in Oklahoma. No idea about it's history, but the camera is a 1934 Zeiss Super Ikonta A 530.

A visit to the Isle of Wight and the two erm... preserved railways. The first is of the steam railway, and the loco shown was once proposed to replace the aging trains which hung on for years due to the uncertainty regarding any railways on the Island in the Beeching era.

However, some redundant London Transport "tube" trains were chosen instead, this is the second generation which all seem to have been constructed in 1938, these veterans still bonce, sway and groan over rough tracks on a daily basis

The second railway is part of the national network

Neat thread. Some really great shots here. Here is one I took at Train Town in Griffith Park.
