I've been banned a few times and the last time was really very subjective, I think I could have explained myself and rather than things looking bad it would have seemed smart (it was a matter of editing).
Anyway - I also have a Camel Pal who was banned on accident, he was un-banned a day later but for that entire day he had no clue what was up and thought he was banned for life for no reason. He couldn't even give one paragraph in his defense. My idea is like democracy - a banned person should have a thread that he can speak with the moderators and at least explain himself. At least explain his motives. The way it is now a fella gets banned and that's it for a week or more - not even a paragraph in his defense. Well that's my idea ![]() I'll be banned any minute now ![]() Cheers, Craig __________________

Craig not sure how they have this forum set... but what you are asking for is entirely possible in the VB software (not sure if this is VB since it doesnt have the normal copyrights at the bottom)... they can also set the banning so where when you try and access the forum it comes up to contact the administrator with an email link... generally thats what you see with boards...

No one, other than spammers, are banned without at least one warning. At the first warning would be your best bet to give your side.

That was my understanding. Maybe I'm wrong. If I am...I'm sorry.

Even though I have never been banned, I like the idea. Everyone should be given a chance to clarify their intentions. Good idea...

If the owners decide they don't like the way of someone behaves, what difference would it make to waste more time to understand why he behaved in such an offensive manner. His behaviour won't become better because of the explanation, so why bother? I personally wouldn't care why a donkey smells, I just don't want it in my house. On a more practical side, I wouldn't be surprised if the first bans aren't permanent but just for a few days. So if one feels the need to explain himself, then wait for the short time and do it afterwards. It's not that not being barred from Photocamel can be a matter of life and death. And as a last resort, there's always the option to make a second account and use that one to communicate with the moderators. And if someone got banned repeatedly so it might become permanent, perhaps it's time for him to consider adapting his behaviour to be less disruptive and more in line with the communication culture of the forums. As said before, we're here as guests and access to the forums isn't a constitutional right. Korman |

There is one guy, who is here yet again, who must have had at least 8 or 9 different accounts. He's done this for years. One gets banned and another appears within days or weeks afterward. He thinks he's anonymous but I've learned enough about his history and personality to recognize when he reappears and starts posting. |

Yeah, but a forum isn't a democracy, Craig. It is a dictatorship. And dictators can't handle being shown wrong publicly after they've chopped a guy's head off with a big show of self-righteousness. So forget them eating their words. They'd never go back on them. Too shameful.
I.o.w. after you've been banned there is no way to get reinstated. Besides, why would you want to go to the trouble of a drawn-out debate to defend yourself with motherfuckers who just abused their power on you? They're not worth the effort. So if you want to get back on, you'll have to use an alternative way. That's much quicker – about 2 minutes, it's surefire, and it saves you all that aggravation. |

only because people chose not to let the mob rule their property doesn't make the evil. It has nothing to do with being right or wrong, more of maintaining a climate they think best for their forums. What would you do with your guests who decide to take pictures out of the toilet bowl while it's being used with your camera? Would you abide by their democratic majority that this is fun and the right thing to do? So please try to be a little more civil about the people who provide you and me with this service for free. Remember, we're just guests here. Korman |

It comes back time and time again to this place not being a public institution of any sort. It's completely private. You need to look at this as if we're all guests at someone's house. We eat his food. We drink his beer. We listen to his music system.
As such we do not get a say in what's served or who gets invited or for that matter, asked to leave. Those who don't like the policies are perfectly free to set up their own site, perhaps PhotoHorse, and invite whomever they choose and also make the rules to their own liking. If the site owner or his administrators wanted to debate banning or other policy moves, I'm sure they know how to solicit such a debate. |

Craig, You've been told time and again that you can't control who posts in what threads. You sound like my 9 year old that blames her friend in class for getting in trouble in school. At some point, you have to take responsibilities for YOUR own actions. Back off.
