Ok. Im going to bring up an issue Brian did right before he was temporarily banned. And thats posters with low counts being able to give negative karma to people. I was giving some K to someone and saw they were given negative karma by someone who has been here 4-5 years, but during that time has contributed all of 4 posts. The last of which was over 3 years ago. There is just something wrong with that.
If you have never contributed anything to the site or community, you should not be allowed to give negative Karma. __________________

It wasnt me. It was someone else.
Its one thing to disagree with a poster. Thats obviously fine and dandy. But have the guts to say it and put your opinion out there for all to see. I found it cowardly. |

heh, yep. Some people are very 'eTough'.
IMO karma is pointless. Karma wont help anyone achieve their photography ambitions. I'm not sure why anyone would care about karma. I mean it's nice to receive a compliment but a reply post works just as well. Post your pics, get critique, improve and repeat. (how about some K for that advice) ![]() |

I agree with Douglas on this point. I have not given any negative Karama as I prefer to speak my mind and leave it at that. A public forum is just that so my opinion should not carry more or less weight then someone elses.
I do believe that since the written word does not convey everything a face to face conversation does many times people misunderstand what is being said. This then leads to some very agressive posts. If I want agressive I will shut of the computer and talk to my wife... |

Well, Douglas, someone with a low karma themselves, which is likely for someone with 4 posts to still have only the original 10 karma points, don't have much karma giving ability and even less karma taking ability. The more karma you have, the stronger the effect of giving positive or negative karma to others.

I guess my original issue was that in both cases (Neither of which were with me, but others) is that people expressed an opinion, but did not respond to the post to argue a point. They just posted negative and moved on. Its one thing to disagree, (healthy debate can be fun and intriging) but just to leave the negative mark and not try to explain a point instead is quite rude.
Luckily, it seems 99.9% of the people here do the right thing and either stay out of it, or argue their point. Im a defender type of person, so thats why this bugged me to begin with. __________________
