This is reprinted from another thread by Paul:
Everyone who came over from the old forum had their Karma (or more precisely their positive karma) carried over + 10. So if someone had zero they'd start here with 10. Any new members start off with 10. The key to adding karma to someone else is that your own 'power' increases depending on how long you've been here, how many posts you've made etc. For example, an elder Camel's reputation power can significantly influence someone else's karma score for the better (or worse). Below is how the various weightings are configured currently. There's also another post I made that sort of goes over the same things: http://www.photocamel.com/forum/new-...712-karma.html Register Date Factor For every 60 number of days, users gain 1 point of Karma-altering power. Post Count Factor For every 1000 number of posts, users gain 1 point of Karma-altering power. Reputation Point Factor For every 100 points of Karma, users gain 1 point of Karma-altering power. Minimum Post Count How many posts must a user have before his Karma hits count on others? 5 Minimum Reputation Count How much Karma must a user have before his Karma hits count on others? 10 Daily Reputation Clicks Limit How many Karma clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? 200 Reputation User Spread How many different users must you give Karma to before you can hit the same person again? 5 __________________

Just a point - I tried to add some Karma but I don't think it changed - (to Athena for battling for the increased avatar size
). As the extra 10 seems to have been taken away most people seem to be below the 10 point requirement to affect Karma. Is this the case, as if so, it will take a long time before there are many people able to affect the Karma. I can understand it needs restrictions to prevent abuse by new members who don't know what the site is all about (I hope I'm not counted in that comment) but could this be a little problem? I hope I've explained myself here ![]() |

there has been a change. Paul or JD can explain it a little better than I, but it basically has changed to better reflect how much "karma" influence you have, instead of total awarded points. As it was before, if I gave you a karma, you'd get 5 points, but if a newbie gave you a karma, it would be one point.

I may be completely misunderstanding the situation, it just seems that way from what I read and from what I read above. ![]() |

I'm sure it is just a glitch in the new system and will be corrected shortly.

and therefore it has to be done in their generously donated spare time. I was just trying to point out a potential problem and add my understanding of how it may be arising to assist in sorting it out. Many thanks to all ![]() |

To add to the thought from a previous post,
The auto forum I visit will have a calender for sale with the 12 winning photos. Guess what, I'm running the contest Maybe we should have something similar here. And this is the winning photo of the first contest, if anybody is interested. |

Looks like the Karma points are back up. Now to figure out what CamelReputation is and how it is added to or taken away from.
Thanks to who ever fixed it!!! ![]() |

Where was that Photo Camel Accessories Store located? Should be a quick link somewhere. |
