If you don't like videos, there is an excellent illustrated tutorial here:
Create Transparent Watermarks in Photoshop - Photography Reviews, How-To, and Galleries of Digital Grin

But please don't make your watermark too large, and give it some transparency.

When you have a watermark to your liking, you can automate it by creating a Photoshop action:

My personal favorite is Comic Sans. There is a lot to be considered here. What do you want the viewer to see first, the Focal Point or the Watermark? My opinion is that the subject should be seen first then the watermark. It is also up to you to choose your own favorite. You might disagree with mine.
