Here are some photographs I took of jazz fusion guitarist Allan Holdsworth at Ramshead Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland, March 20, 2007
You might want to play the video while you're looking (turn up your speakers):
Took about 4 gigs' worth of photos with the Canon 1D Mark IIN. The camera stopped me several times because the buffer filled. I was shooting RAW. So I can see the value of a 1D Mark III with larger buffer and even faster frame rate. Just a few: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________

All shots at ISO 1250 or 1600. Most taken with Canon 135mm f/2L.

Great shots! Looks like it was a good show.
And Chad Wackerman on the tubs? Pretty good lineup. |

Some of them have a good "mood" to them. Did a good job on working in the backgrounds to give the viewers more of "being there" feel.

Very nice series
Great music as well!! That must have been some tuff lighting conditions in there!! Jay |

Thanks. The lighting was challenging, but really I just kept the camera on AWB the whole time and fired away. I shot RAW, so when I got home I might have done some batch white balancing, although because the lighting was mixed, more often than not it was just better leaving the WB at what the camera decided. 1D Mark IIN.

Lighting is often a challenge at concerts ... a lot of your images are "soft" but I can't tell if it is motion blur or focus. I shoot concerts with 1DMarkII and 1DMarkIIN, RAW, bracketing, and fill the buffers constantly so I find myself swapping bodies back and forth. I think you did good ... I have never done particularly well with tavern lighting.

JD, I was gonna scold you for cropping the headstock off in all the images, but it looks like he's using some custom Steinberger type of guitar (headless.) Nice shots of Chad Wackerman there as well.
