I used to live in a house very similar to those in the third photo. Southwest Detroit. Very sad.

Image #2 reminds me of a particular grouchy old woman in a (usually) single-panel comic strip, the name of which I have since forgotten. She (and the comic) had a single name that was 5 or 6 letters, which I can't recall at the moment.
