Nice job, Scott. Was this a small high school? Gym looks kind of small from what I can see in these shots.

I find the backgrounds a little distracting. The people in the bleachers are pretty vivid and found myself struggle to find the action of the shot. What was your apeture set to? Could you have dropped it to blur out the background a tad?
But great job freezing the action |

Hey Scott,
Just thought of something. I'm assuming that you're using the 70-300 f/4-5.6, but both of these shots were at 70mm. Have you considered using your 28-70 f/2.8 instead? It's still 70 mm (where these were shot), but gets you an additional stop of action stopping speed and will help blur the background more. |

Yes I was using the 28-70 Sigma. That 70-300 was usless in the gym
even with the flash and ISO 1600. I really love that lens for outdoors, but will be selling it to fund the faster glass![]() |

Oh. The exif showed f/4 rather than f/2.8, so I assumed you were using the 70-300.
