Default Question for all you Sports Shooters?

I sometimes attend my brothers football games to take shots....And Don't bring a tripod.....I was wondering how many of you bring a Tripod to an event?....do u find that it helps or does it just get in the way when u move along the feild?

Thanks in advance

Never.

I do use a monopod with my 300/2.8.. but other than that, I just hand hold.

Not only would a tripod interfere with moving around on the field, it would interfer with being able to move away from a play, and inhibit my ability to swing the lens from one point to another.

The only time I would see the advantage to a tripod would be when you are locked in one position in sports like Surfing (I don't shoot surfing.. not a lot of good waves in Chicago)... Most other sports, you are probably better off with a monopod...

Cheers,
Ken
