OK, this assignment is a bit more 'serious' than recently. What I'm looking for here is for the image below to be converted to monochrome. The rules are quite simple:
1. You are not allowed to add any foreign objects (you may crop if needed) 2. The image must end up as essentially monochromatic, (but that can be any tone that you feel is appropriate - duotone or tritone is also permitted) 3. The competition will run for 5 days - so no slacking ! 4. The winner will be decided by myself, and will get to decide on the next speed challenge. If there is only one entry, then you are the winner .So, let's see some amazing conversions, apply the dodge and burn and any other tools you wish to make the image really stand out as mono perfection. ![]() An example just to get it going: ![]() A large (1MB) file for those who prefer a bigger file to edit with (right-click to download, and please resize before posting here). http://mysongs.myby.co.uk/sc21large.jpg __________________

Indeed, but for me I think you still have the best one. I'd love to know how you got that sepia tint?

Anyway, about 3 hours to go before final submission - so still time for anyone else to have a pop! |

Well, this was a really tough one to decide on as each entry showed that there are so many different perspectives on creating a B&W image. In the end I have to pick one and I'll go for alan.lush's example.
Alan, in case you don't know the rules - you now have to start a new speed challenge topic in this section. Post an image and what rules you impose and set a time limit. |
