What, no picture? Nope.
The challenge for this week is Text Effects. You can use a blank doc, or a picture of your own. Pick a word or phrase and make its look match the concept of the words. Something like the sample posted, only i know you all will do it much better. Unlimited entries, winner to be posted next Sunday evening. Have fun! __________________

I am not really practiced at this much
But thought I would start the ball rolling with this effort. |

I know; i thought maybe we should all stretch outside our comfort zone a bit.
You've got the idea. Golden, waving text, a feeling of rich, deep-toned wallpaper, and the lighting effect. I like the gradient a lot with this. Good one. |

Does this count? It's so speedy I did it two years ago!
![]() It was for a music historian's promotional brochure and includes a performance image of him and his signature. Chip |

Definitely cool, and since i am the Big Kahuna, and i say it counts, it counts. But what i really love is the lighting on that shot. It all gleams and shines and has form and rich color, without any hot spots.

Okay, my first Speed Challenge post.* Probably not very original, and definitely the most that I've ever done with photoshop, but here it is:
![]() I wanted to add teeth marks, but that's well beyond my lacking skills. |

Glad you jumped in, and nice entry.
For quick 'n' easy bite marks, just make an elliptical selection, use Select: Transform Selection to rotate and move it into position, and then use the eraser and click around the edge. To get a little more control, do the same on a mask. To do that, open your Layers pallette (Window: Layers), click on the layer you want to take a bite out of, then click on the Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers pallette (it's the circle within a rectangle). Do the same selection process, then use a paintbrush with the color set to black, rather than the eraser. Anything you paint black on the mask will be hidden, and reveal the layer below. Anything you paint white on the mask, will show the active layer. Oh, and make sure you are on the mask, not the image. A double line will show which is active. I'm glad you all stepped out of the ordinary, and took a chance with something a little different. You all had good entries that caught the spirit of the challenge.
I'm going with iancole to lead us to the next challenge. The font has a lot of attitude, the background graphic enhances the concept of the phrase... and it appeals to my Inner Geek! Well done, all, and congrats ian. Let's see what lies in store for us next! |

Wow!! Thanks! Although I feel that Chip's way outshone mine. I will come up with something later this evening - I need to cogitate on this for a few...
