Default Know this lens?

Does anyone have experience with using the Minolta 28 mm f2.8 lens on the A77? I have an opportunity the buy the lens, but I am wondering if I should bother since I have zooms that cover the range. I know primes are usually preferred.

I used that lens on Maxxum bodies. Digital
has problems with some film era wide angle
lenses, but the problems are in the corners,
and the A77 doesn't use the corners. It won't
have wide angle problems and it won't have
a wide angle view. It will be about normal.

I did not have any complaint about that lens,
but I also had the semi-huge 20/2.8. So, as a
gear reduction move, I parted with both and
went in between them with the reasonably
compact 24/2.8. I'm still using it 25 yrs later.

If you can get the lens for $25-40, go for it.
It makes little sense to pay more for a used
f/2.8 normal lens, which happen to be a bit
larger than it needs to be for APS format.

It was an inexpensive lens in its day, but in
that day, economy range OEM lenses were
only mildly "economized" compare to most
of todays bottom feeders.

Thanks for the detailed input. I decided to pass on the lens, mostly because I have the range covered and my wife threatened me if I bought any more lenses.
