One of the great things about living in North East Tn. is the abundance of waterfalls.
I love the thick stringy moss on the rocks at the falls. Sony A700 with Sigma 28-300 Thanks for looking. Randy __________________

It's not worn out with me either.
This may have been a good day to try HDR too. I shot these just after daylight this morning and it was very cloudy and dark. I was on my way home before 9:00AM., so I didn't use any filters this time. I normally use a CP and a #2 ND filter stacked. Randy |

I agree, questions are important, otherwise we end up just another flickr site showing off shots and not learning anything..
I have had a tough time finding unique places to shoot,, all old barns and country side where I am.. I do see some blow out on the upper falls... Just curious, would the filter have helped this or would a faster shutter be more effective ? I am just now learning how to shoot extended water flow. The last time I shot some up in Cherokee Park, I got the bright white blow out too.. I love the compositions in the second ones.. Beautiful!!!! ~ Kat |

The question..."Who cares what filter was or was not used" was answered before you asked it! Plus, if somebody wants to know then that alone makes it a valid question. Now let see...Songman has over 3000 posts and twice that in CamelKarma, you've got 73 posts and half that in CamelKarma...you might want to think about that a little. There are no stupid questions, wish I could say the same about answers!

Thanks to everyone for your comments.I appreciate them all.
Songman45 , I don't mind questions at all. That's how we learn and understand. The answer to your question is yes, effectively 4 stops. I have found that that combination works best for me. KatMitchell Your right about the blow out in #1. The filters are suppose to and might have helped with the blowout , but I didn't use any yesterday. Changing SS and Ap will help also. I prefer dark , cloudy, overcast , even drizzly days, either real early in the AM or late in the PM. I started shooting a little after 7AM and was packed up and on my way home by 9 AM yesterday. I switched back and forth between F13 and stopped all the way down as far as the lens would allow. Just try changing settings and shooting in all of them till you find a look that pleases you. The 2nd photo was 2sec. @ F13 The last photo was 13 sec. @F36. What part of Tn. are you in by the way ? We have a cherokee park near here too. Sean, you may just have to bundel up and go anyway ! LOL!! Thanks Randy |

I love slow shutter speed (water) shots still. Love the effect. It will never grow old.
