Any of the wide angle primes from Minolta/Sony would be a good choice. The 20mm, 24mm and 28mm all are very sharp.

You really can't find discounts on Sony lenses so I bought mine from Onecall. I used live.com so that I could get cashback.

Generaly speaking it is wise to think your setup through thoroughly ohterwise you end up getting a overlap on lenses (i prefer the term objective= piece of metal/plastic with more than one lens in side ) , the longer the zoom range the faster the qualtiy disappears , a zoom range wint a smaler range is usually more expensive than one with a longer range .

with landscapes a wide zoom like 18-55 or 18-70 is a good start, these basic kitlenses are often very good and deliver a lot fun for the money but i dont know the sony lenses but have heard that you can use konika minolta lenses on a sony dlsr body..

I just go a couple of new ones. I did quite a bit of researsh.

Sigma 18-50mm is what I have used a couple of times so far for landscapes.
Sigma 105mm I have used a couple times for a barn shot and some waterfall shots.

Now I just got yesterday a 70-200 F2.8 that I have not had a chance to use yet.

I think I am addicted to buying glass, my wife will get mad if I buy any more.

The Minolta AF 35-70mm F4 lens is really a very good and underrated lens. And, you can get it for next to nothing. The problem is the range isn't all that great on digital. I have one and get some of my best shots with it, but don't use if often because of the focal length restrictions. The first gen 35-105mm is even better in my opinion.

I bought a Sigma 28-80mm Macro Zoom many years ago for my Minolta. I still use it on my A300 and I am still very pleased with it. I would recommend it highly.
