I'm really starting to like my Zeiss 16-80. Light, very fast, and very, very sharp.

Here's a sample with the CZ16-80. Of course it doesn't hurt that it's my favorite subject, my granddaughter.

Hey Rob S. where abouts in central ohio? So far my favorite lens has to be the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 no it isn't a G but for the price difference it is a very good lens. I also love my Tokina 80-400mm but it sure is a friend of the bright light of day! If one doesn't have some KM glass on hand when starting out a good buy and a handy lesn is the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 DI i don't have a beercan but instead got the 'faster' 70-210 3.5 - 4.5, anyone want it? cheap? I keep thinking about picking up the KM 28-75 but just not sure yet. so much to bauy, so little money LOL Oh and everyone should have the KM 50mm 1.7 for there alpha!

I bought a mint Minolta HTSi body. I had wanted to place the Sony 135mm F2.8 STF onto it but it is too expensive. I am wondering waht else would be nice for portraits with great bokeh.

What about a regular Minolta 135/2.8 - not the STF version?

My HTSI-Plus body is now for sale. I am sticking with Nikon now. The STF is too expensive.

I'm tempted by the CZ 16-80 but the DT puts me off a little. I don't think APS-C will go away anytime soon but I am reluctant to go anything other than full frame in case I want to go that way. Considering I got a Sony 70-200G, Sony 2x TC and Sony 70-300G in the space of 3 months (the latter 2 thanks to Circuit City closing) I am not in the market for much of anything at the moment. This will give me some time to see how things shake out. But I do want to replace my 18-70 in the future.

I shoot with 2 A700s one has a KM 28-75 2.8 on it,
the other has a Tokina ATX Pro 80-200 2.8,

although I carry 4 other lenses in my bag I rarely change lenses

I noticed that the AF on the older Minolta bodies was rather pathetic in comparison to my Nikon D300 bodies.

Ummm. . .what does this have to do with the topic of "Favorite Lens on a Sony DSLR?"

Are you just being a wiseguy Bob? That was pertinent information.
An AF lens marked Sony or Minolta can also be used on Minolta bodies/Sony bodies in any combination. It is wise to try the combination of your favorite AF Sony/Minolta mount lens before you commit to the combination financialy. I am sure that many have come from the Minolta/Konica tradition and are now are going Sony all the way as they can afford to.
I am out of this discussion.

When everyone is saying their "beercan", is this what they are talking about: Minolta 70-210mm f4 BeerCan lens

I'm using a KM maxxum 7D, and I recently bought a Tamron 28-75 2/8. In just the little time I've had it, I really like it.
