So I know the CF's are far faster but my question is does the a700's transfer speed even exceed the max 15mbps transfer rate of the mark2 duos? I have a ton of 16GB duos from my hdr-cx12 and it would be great if I didnt have to go buy a $200 CF card now just to realize the speed potential of the alpha.
Sony posts no transfer speeds of the alpha anywhere that I could find and I havent the slightest idea of how or even if I could measure it, when using a duo I can snap off 10xraw+jpg shots before it stops to write to the stick and takes about 4-5 sec before I can start snappin off again, just wondering if the faster CF's would allow for more or maybe less time between them. Not that I plan on needing this but I just hate living with the idea that I dont have the fastest media in my camera that it could take advantage of... thanks for any input you guys have! -Adam __________________

Are they 16MB or 16GB? The A700 will eat the 16MB at full resolution. If you only have 16MB cards I suggest you invest in something larger. I use 4MB cards because they are approximately the same size as a DVD. I find it makes it easier to do backups.
If they are 16GB MS cards I would suggest you try to use those and see how it works out. I have both the CF and MS (MS mostly for backup) in my A700. I use a card reader so it basically goes to the speed of the card. I have a fast CF card and it is noticeably faster than the MS card but the MS is quite usable. |

Yeah they're the 16GB's, my question was really about the max speed of the camera's bus, I know they talked about the 900 having an 8bit parallel bus which would take full advantage of the new 45MB/sec CF cards but I have no information about the 700. I can deal with the MS's that I've been using fine, I was just wondering if the camera was capable of pushing the 45MB/sec that the cards can handle, if so I would probably just pick one up, if I would see no benefit then I just cant justify paying double for a card that would yield me no benefit at all...
