You would think so. Should be able to and You'd think so's won't repair a damaged camera. Better check with your camera maker for an authroitive answer. You could run into problems ranging from dedication incompatability to power surge back washing.

Songman makes a good point but I'd say the odds are very good. Part of the whole point of buying Minolta was to try to keep that portion of the market as well. They made the cameras lens compatible so I'd assume everything else is too. But like Songman said, better safe than sorry.
There are several Sony users here so maybe one will chime in. Edit: Ah, there's one now. ![]() |

Just an FYI: brand specific questions should really be done in their relevant forum. In this case, Sony = Minolta and should go in Sony Forum - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Community.

Only the Minolta 3600HSD, 5600HSD and 2500D will work 100%. Several of the older Minoltas like the 5400HS, 5400xi and 5200i will only work in manual mode.
I use the Minolta 3600HSD on my Sony A700 when I want to shoot TTL and not think about the flash. The rest of the time I shoot with manual flash - Sunpak 383 and 622. Bob S. |

It showed up after a request in Suggestions / Questions - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Community. I happened to see the reply.

Interesting. It seems I've seen that topic kicked around now and then but it was always discouraged. Honestly, I'm a Minolta shooter now and will most likely be a Sony shooter and I still don't see much benefit to this. Hopefully I'm wrong.
