Is this Dell : Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A200W 10.2 MP Digital SLR Camera (with 18-70 mm / 75-300 mm Lenses) : Digital Cameras & Camcorders : Home & Home Office a good buy and will these 2 lenses work well for motocross(both outdoors and indoors) and basketball in gymnasiums? I do have on track access and courtside access.
I have been doing alot of research, and the more I do, the more confused I am getting I find it easier to just ask all of you savvy photographers on here![]() Thank You- Scott __________________

I have the a200K and if you are just looking into the lens' and not the camera I would absolutely over the 2 suggest getting the 75-300 mm, the 18-70 isn't quite enough. If you are looking at getting both lens' I would also suggest saving that money that you have to buy both of them and go out and buy a bigger better lens.
Overall the camera is amazing I just got mine few days ago... and the lens' are pretty good. |

I am looking at the $$ value pkg with this camera vs getting the Canon XT body with a Canon EF 70mm-200mm F4L USM. Price wise, the canon set-up would be about $250 more. I am by now way brand needing, just looking for the "best bang for the buck".
Also, what is the difference between the SONY a200K and the a200W? Thanks |

the 200K is just the regular ole stuff that comes in the box and a 18-70mm lens, the 200w is everything that comes in box and a 70-300mm lens I believe it also comes with the 200k's 18-70mm lens, So the W model just has an extra bigger lens. |

Unless you are going to stick with the kits lens, you will soon find that the package cost is down to the lenses. Look for the system that gets you the glass that you want (in terms of speed and reach for your $£€) before you look at the bodies. I have no idea about the sony kit lens, but if you are looking at sports stuff I would be asking how fast is it? Will it give you what you want in the lighting conditions that you will be working in? As I understand it you can fit the older minolta glass to the sony - you may find that there is a good fast zoom or long prime available at a reasonable cost. |

I bought my Sony A200 for $599.00. The only thing is, it didn't have the 75-300 with the kit. But I already had a sigma 28-200 mm lense so it worked out fine. For the price I saw it is a good deal. You are definately getting your moneys worth.

Outside, in daylight, those lenses will probably work fine. But for indoors – assuming you want to take photos without flash – you will need 'fast' glass. F/2.8 and wider. You didn't say what the max. aperture is on those lenses. 'Fast' glass is expensive.

I bought this rig (these lens) plus a Sekonic Studio meter - for $1,000 - and couldn't be happier (had the gear for more than a year).
I bought the camera for the 10+ mega pixels, and since you can't do better than Sony for electronics, the camera are basically Minola (which Sony bought) and the optics are German (Lietz I believe) - can't get better quality I am happy with my rig, but should I want to shoot film then it's the Mamiya (RB67 & 645AF) __________________
