I finally went out and bought the 700 and I'm very glad that I did. It is a great camera to work with, very flexible, and NR has been improved dramatically over the a100. Having the ability to also adjust your ISO up to the stratosphere (6400, I believe) is also a plus, but you still have to be careful about the noise at that setting. I think the best part has been the ability to set up three separate customizable settings that will allow you to switch with a couple opf key strokes, and the placement of the buttons are great. Easy access to everything with thumb and forefinger. I added on the extra handgrip and another battery and an additional card - it can carry two, a CF and memory stick - for a total of 8 gigs of space at 2.2 MB per pic and couldn't understand why I wasn't able to take any more pictures. I still had mucho battery power! I had filled up a card and hadn't switched to the other. Add on the Digital Field Guide for the 700 and you are good to go. I love it, and the next camera I get will be another 700.

Be sure to upgrade to the Ver. 4.0 of the firmware - if only for the 2EV x 3 bracketing, making HDR/Exposure Blending shots all that much easier.

I nearly left work early the day it was leaked to run home and try it. I managed to keep myself together until I got home at my regular time, but everything else took a backseat to the upgrade once I walked in the door - including dinner!
