Default Sony A700

For anyone who may any qualms in regards to the image quality from the new A700 Sony.
Special Exhibition: Infrastellar's Bolivia Trip: Dyxum forums

After all, this is essentially the same sensor as the new Nikon D300. If you use excellent lenses it produces excellent results.

There are some lovely shots in that link Sidebyte. I'd never make a purchasing decision based on web images, but the guy with the camera certainly knows what he's doing.

That's a fairly impressive review. As a long time 7d owner it could be relevant pretty soon. Thanks Sidebyte.

With a zoom lens for $1,237! I'm really starting to like the Sony Alpha. Of course almost every camera I've owned has been Sony. I'm not a professional photographer by any means, though.

How's the AF accuracy for ppl who have been using the A700. With their high accuracy centre AF sensor, they should be pretty class leading in this respect.

Cheers, Sean.

I have had the A700 since it came out and love it. I have photographed with it at least four days a week since the purchase and have had no regrets. The AF is great. Sony may not have as many lenses out as some of the others but the ones they have are great. My newest toy is the 85mm f1.4 Planar T and I love it! I could not ask for a better lens for portrait work.
I also am really happy with the the HVL-F56AM flash. I have 2 of them and to set them up for off camera work is simple and the result is great.

I've been extremely happy with the AF on my A700. I think from a "raw" AF perspective the A700 is up there with the best - a comparison test had it as the fastest among its peers (D300, 40D, E-3,etc). I say "raw" because it is lacking some of the bells and whistles of the D300 (which my friend shoots). I would really like the D300 feature where you can specify a "band" in which you want the camera to focus. This would be really handy when I am shooting soccer.
