American Photo has released it's annual Editor's Choices edition.
You can read it online here. Canon Rebel second and Nikon D40 third. __________________

Sony did have a strong realise, great camera that belongs in the 30d/d80 range and made it a rebel/d40 range. My hats of to them.
/also knows they can't compete to much anyways after losing so much money on the PS3 ![]() |

If you read the review, the only reason the editors did not list Sony as an advanced DSLR was the entry level price. Hmm, entry level price, advanced dslr capabilities, where is the down side here?

I'm not a big fan of in-body stabilization. I've read the pros/cons to both sides and, while I'm not going to debate it here, I tend to favor the lens IS vs body IS arguments. And, yes, I'm biased, since we're ALL biased to some extent. For the price, I was more impressed with the XTi but even that wouldn't find its way into my camera bag. I did buy one for my employer's marketing guy, though. And HE chose it after trying all of them, with no input from me. |

Canon 70mm-200mm f2.8L IS $1,699.00(not including $100 rebate) Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8D G-AFS ED-IF $1549.95 Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 APO G(D) SSM $ 2,299.95 Funny, The Canon and the Nikon have IS built into them. It is the better system for longer focal length lenses. Yet Sony wants $700 more for their lens? Now that deserves an Advertising BS of the Year award right there. Second reason: Canon Telephoto EF 300mm f/2.8L IS $ 3,899.00 Nikon Telephoto AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8G AF-S ED-IF VR $ 4,299.95 Sony SAL-300F28G Telephoto 300mm f/2.8 APO G SSM $ 5,699.95 I would compare the prices of 400mm f28 lenses but Sony doesn't make one. I would compare 500mm f4 and 600mm f4 lenses, but again Sony doesn't make one. Yep, entery level DSLR. Camera bodies come and go. You don't just buy a DSLR you buy the system. Seems the system is lacking a bit here. Or overpriced for their vaunted "Every lens you own is an Image Reduction Lens." Apparently they forgot to put in small print that the lenses cost an arm and a leg. __________________
