Default The anatomy of a water filter cartridge

Hello from Maine,

Last time I bought one of those overpriced water filter cartridges I was curious ... what is in it? So I put the old one in my vice and removed a piece with my hacksaw - revealing what appears to be fine compressed charcoal.

A few paragraphs on why charcoal works can be found here

Taken with Kodak v803 pocket camera.

I chop things up so you don't have to

Cheers,
Craig

What else did you expect to find in an activated coal water filter? The Spanish inquisition?

I didn't know there was charcoal in there. I read the documentation briefly and I don't recall any mention of the mechanism. Before I opened it I really had no idea what was inside. I'm sure many others don't so I posted it. It's just for fun

Also, I feel it's audacious for you to give sarcasm about my photos - you who keep your location a secret, have no gallery, and have never posted a photo of your own. At least I am posting photos - at least I am making an effort to be creative. I don't just "talk", I "do".
