Hello from Maine,

Last time I bought one of those overpriced water filter cartridges I was curious ... what is in it? So I put the old one in my vice and removed a piece with my hacksaw - revealing what appears to be fine compressed charcoal.

What else did you expect to find in an activated coal water filter? The Spanish inquisition?

I didn't know there was charcoal in there. I read the documentation briefly and I don't recall any mention of the mechanism. Before I opened it I really had no idea what was inside. I'm sure many others don't so I posted it. It's just for fun

Almost of the water filter is a charcoal filter inside.... hm, it's a great idea for all of the readers...
