Look it at it this way, it will give you motivation to get yourself in shape!

Let us see: It is 21 inches long and weighs 12.9 pounds. To use it properly you will need an extra heavy tripod with a gimbal head, total cost, over $1000.00 just for the tripod and the head

No, I wouldn't. I'm neither into birding nor planes nor offshore boat racing nor safari photography, so I wouldn't know what to do with it. You should ask yourself, how much benefit you will get for your images. If you're in doubt, rent it for a weekend.

That is true Meinster .. but still it is kinda heavy lens 13.8 KG aint not nothing
Sh*t if i would win the lottery i need a heavier tripod since mine only lasts 28lbs in weight to handle
