got me brand new 120-300 this week. here are my impressions.
its big heavy and solid. Ive never owned what I would call a professional lens before. this seems to be rock solid. The zoom ring is very smooth and stays where you put it,unlike my 150-500 which creep. the lens is heavy enough that handholding is an issue at least for me. maybe after I get used to it it will be easier. so far I am very impressed with it. Compared to my 150-500 the sharpness is much improved. is it worth the extra 2k over the 150-500? for me I think so here are some images taken with it these were taken at 300mm ![]() DSC_9319 by rdking647, on Flickr ![]() axis deer by rdking647, on Flickr ![]() DSC_9535 by rdking647, on Flickr this was taken at 145mm ![]() DSC_9447 by rdking647, on Flickr this last one was taken with the lens and the addition of the sigma 2.0 TV ![]() DSC_9286 by rdking647, on Flickr __________________

Thanks for the post I have been considering selling my 150-500 and getting this lens plus the 1.4x convertor, I have had great results fom the 150-500 but it needs lots of light, I thought this lens might be the best I could afford, so look forward to seeing more pics from you.
Thanks very much for the post, there is very little information about this lens on the net, and also you having the 150-500, makes you views of the lens even more valuble. |

i thought about selling the 150-500 but decided to keep it too. I use a 2x tele with the 120-300 . there are times you need 600mm and a 600m f5.6 doesnt suck...
