Phil,
I like it. I don't think you could have captured the personalities any better.
My thoughts are with execution.
Nice lighting pattern, but light falloff is evident on the left.
One thing would have jumped this image into a completely different level....kicker lights.
The guy on the left blends into the background. There's nothing to separate him from the background. Not as bad on the guy on the right. Blonde hair stands out better from a dark background. But his arm is bleeding into the background.
Hairlight would have helped too.

Overall, however, I think you captured the feel of the group quite nicely.

Mark has covered the personality part quite well. So I will come to it with a critique of the technical merits or lack thereof.

The blacks are blocked up. Using a fill light will easily cure that. There was no hair light used which has allowed their hair to look flat, lifeless and dull. All three men are posed nearly exactly the same. I would have preferred to see the middle guy with his arms as is, the guy at camera left with his thumbs in pockets and the third guy with his arms folded across his chest. The brightest spot in the image is the woman's chest, which I suppose to some is good, but it should be their faces.

Great concept- bad lighting and exposure. The uneven lighting and the blending in of dark areas into the background may cause a lot of trouble if the images are to be published in newspapers, advertisements and other publicity media. Newsprint type reproduction may bring up the contrast even more. Perhaps it may be a good idea to do a bit of PhotoShop work to even things out before creating a disc or prints.
