Consumer or Pro?

Consumer www.mpix.com

Pro www.millerslab.com ....... www.mpixpro.com

Both are owned and operated by Millers Professional Imaging. There is an application process to gain an account with their pro labs Millers and MpixPro

They can make prints for sure. Nice consistant quality prints, no.

You stand a much better chance at getting nice prints your local CostCo, if you have one. They often have good printing equipment.

Check out Modifed PHoto's blog. He is testing the various printing labs. This will give us truly empirical comparison.

For larger prints, I like a company called Bumblejax. They'll mount your prints to aluminum, plexiglass and a few other materials. Pretty reasonable prices and free shipping.

I just got enlargements back from ProPhoto Imaging in Lakeland, FL and am quite pleased with the results. I used them 20-plus years ago for film both medium format and 35mm at the time they did a great memory mate and sport package service.

Today Fed-Ex delivered a 16X20 mounted on double weight board and a matching 8X10. The color matching is dead on. The shipping materials are sturdy and the packaging was very well thought out. Not only was the package integrity great but the internal protection of the enlargements was well taken care of.

The customer service was without flaw. I got not only an automated confirmation and itemized bill of costs but a personal email from my assigned customer service rep. This being my first digital print order I had questions once the ordre was placed. I sent an email at about 1:30 in the morning and had a personal answer at 8:00 a.m.

This compmay uses an online ordering system called ROES. I've seen the same system used by other labs. It takes a small download and makes order placement pretty dang easy. All-in-all a pretty dang happy experience for me. If I'd not wanted to specifically look at the order for evaluation I would have just drop-shipped it directly to the customer.

Steve
