Default Printing photo books

Any place (online) you recommend to print photo books. I tried Shutterfly once and it was decent. Anything better. What about Mpix, any experience with them.

Cheers

Thanks, Rob (?)

I also read recommendation for that place. Unfortunately, they require some kind of a proof or submit a portfolio (or something like that) before they accept an order. But you are on the right track, I was looking for a quality of that level.

Thanks again, Rob (hope I got your name correct, if not, please let me know).

I've also heard good things about White House Pro Photo Lab: Photo Prints, Press Printed, Press Books | WHCC and Millers the parent company to Mpix. Even the Mpix books are worth looking into. You can do a search on their forum for more info.

I've done about 8 of them in the last two years, not many ask one for in sports and commercial photography. Here are my thoughts on the ones that I hav done:

MyPublisher (cheap and easy - but good quality) - If you're a costco member you get a futher discount. I think for general books, this is the best bang for the buck.

AsukaBook for Weddings and Higher End books. A lot of variety on covers and sizes, and full control on how the page looks. You do have sign up ahead with them as they need proof that you are a legit photographer - it takes about 2-3 days. Their higher end LX books are very nice.

I looked at their site but their requirements weren't clear (to me at least). Any info on that, Aram.

Btw, I'm not a "legit" photographer, I'm an amateur.

Thanks

I don't believe they have a "set" requirement. We sort of had a conversation of what I do and what I wanted to do with the book. The first one they give you 50% off, which is nice for a sample book.

They did look at my site extensively it seemed, and asked for a scan of anything official (bill/record/etc) paper with the company name on it -- and a copy of business card.

Blurb does a pretty good job IMO, I just got 2 books done with the high quality paper and I was presently surprised at the quality! The Hard cover didn't have the greatest color, but the pages were great. If I got the optional dust jacket it would have looked great though I'm sure. The softcover book had a nice glossy finish and it looked great.

Best,
Jay
