Default Looking for a book binder

I'm considering printing my own book pages and getting them bound by a binding company, rather than having someone else do the printing and binding. Reason being, I now own a Canon ifp8100 44" so I can probably save a lot of money (and have more control of the output) by printng myself.

First, is this a decent idea or should I just let the book people do the whole thing?

And secondly, does anyone know of a good book binding company to use? I'm hoping for something local (I'm about 20 miles north of Atlanta).

Sorry I can't help with your question, but how you liking that printer?? I just called Canon today and spoke with a rep Very tempted to go with the 44" as well. Are you mounting the large prints yourself by any chance?

Best,
Jay

So far I love it. The photoshop pluging can be kind of daunting at first but I'm getting the hang of it. Printed a lot of 8x10s and 5x7s using the Epson 10" roll paper. I'll probably switch to Illford Smooth Pearl 10" though. Just wasn't in stock when I needed it.

I haven't printed any large format photos on photo paper yet. I'm thinking of doing a 3'x8' print of my son to hang over the printer.

I've printed several 16x20 canvases and a couple 24x36 and I've been stretching them myself. Kind of fun to do and saves a lot of money. For large prints if they need to be drymounted I let the framer across the street do that.
