Seems like an excellent deal on this printer and being direct from Epson you have confidence it will work (after being refurbished).

I bought a refurbished 3800 last January, had problems with it and Epson replaced it with a new unit. A friend bought one, same story. I've read on several forums about customers who weren't so lucky, had theirs replaced with other refurbs, sometimes going through as many as three before they got one that worked or Epson relented and sent them a new unit.
There's an Epson rebate right now, $200 for any 3800 bought before the end of January. At B&H's price of $1190 and the rebate, that's only about $95 more for a new printer. Personally, I'd go for the new one at that price. Just thought I'd share my experience, Bill |

I wasn't aware of the rebate so your quite correct the new one is the better option currently.

A coupe of years ago I bought a refurb from Epson and never had a problem. I now have the R1900 which I bought new from Epson and love that printer! Epson has been my only source for printers for the last 6 years. Cheers, Bill P.

I have used the Epson 2200 for several years now and never had a bit of trouble with it. The few misprints were due to user error. The quality of the prints have been most acceptable from the 2200. The maximum width of the print though is 13 inches. Oddly enough the majority of prints I do is either 13 x19 or 12 x 18 inches because that is the limitation of the printer. Being able to do a 16 x 20 would be an attractive option for me.
It seems that I read somewhere that these refurb units come with a full set of ink cartridges but I don't see that mentioned in the link. Inclusion of a full set of ink cartridges would make these more attractive. Am I correct in assuming that the refurb comes with a full set of ink cartidges but the new unit does not? Tom in Iowa |

Tom,
Both the refurbs and the new 3800's come with a full set of carts. Bill __________________
