I have not used the R2400 for several months and when I tried to use it again yesterday, I could not come close to match the image in the monitor to the prints. I used my standard settings for CS3/printer that I have used in the past with good results; I reseted them again just in case and I recalibrated the monitor.
1. Is it possible that the ink cartridges have deteriorated? 2. Any site that addresses the settings for this particularly printer to check that I have not forgotten something. Thank you. __________________

Try pulling the cartridges and shake them(gently), like you would a new cart before installation. Then print a nozzle test and check for clogs. I doubt the carts have gone bad but Epson says they're good for 6 months after opening the package so I guess that's a possibility. You might need to do several nozzle tests or a cleaning to clear head clogs or bubbles in the lines.
Don't know of any specific websites for settings and you didn't mention exactly what your problem is, but here are some items to check: In CS3: Color management by Photoshop or the printer - Paper profile - Rendering intent In the driver: Media type - Color management off(if using CS3 for CM) - Print quality Here's a screenshot of my 3800 driver, typical settings for application color management: ![]() HTH, Bill |

Epson 3800 Step-By-Step Printing Workflow
Use Eric Chan's setup (Above is for Epson 3800, but the photoshop and printer settings should translate to other printers as well) I just setup my 3800 today the 1st print was too dark the next ones were much better. Also if you calibrate monitor make sure you set the brightness down to 100 cd/m2 (I had mine at 130 before I read this) |

I resolved the problem almost. Prints are about 90 % close to the monitor's image. I reseted all the parameters and ran about 3 (8 X 11) prints and it is better. Thanks for the above assistance. Chan has a very detailed and clear explanation.
Thanks to all... __________________
